Nice LT @collectorking. I just got this 1963 $1 B-B mule from a Collectors Universe member. The back plate used on this note was also used for printing the series 1957B $1 Silver Certificates.

That is very interesting Steve.. How did you find out the information that informed you about that note? Was it the post I've seen you make about the "how else would you know" thread. You posted a reference book right?

If this note was at your local B & M coin shop, and not in a TPG holder, you probably wouldn't look twice. Does anyone know why this is a $400 + variety ? I know the BEP Fort Worth facility started with this series, and WEBs were also being printed in DC. So how did this note become so valuable ?

Well, Steve, it is in the Top 10 (#2 ) rarest blocks in Azpiazu's book. Thanks Tech, but how do random notes rise in value over time ? Who determines that this particular series and block and printing facility are worth 400 times face value ? Are there that many small size $1 FRN block collectors ? This series alone has 161 plus 9 stars.

Picked up a 1928C $5 red seal and (4) 1935 $1 Silver certificates all for just twice face value. I hope one days these notes will RISE in value.

This series alone has 161 plus 9 stars. Basically it becomes a supply and demand market. Lots of demand but little supply. As for number of small size collectors - LOTS and LOTS. Take the 2004A $10 Atlanta Star note: 9600 printed, about 1500 destroyed. SMALL supply and many collectors.
